Distributed firewall provides micro-segmentation of east-west traffic in your virtual data centre and provides security, visibility and control for your workloads and networks.
Edge Firewall monitors the North-South traffic to provide perimeter security functionality including firewall, NAT, and site-to-site IPSec and SSL VPN. Can be configured in High Availability mode.
NSX Edge supports site-to-site IPSec VPN between an NSX Edge and remote sites. Certificate authentication, preshared key mode, and IP unicast traffic are all supported.
SSL VPN Gateway enables remote users to connect securely to private networks behind the vCloud NSX Edge gateway
With L2 VPN, you can stretch multiple networks across multiple sites. VM’s remain on the same subnet when they are moved between sites and their IP addresses do not change.
Static routes can be added for a destination subnet or host, using the Software Defined Networking (SDN) capability within the Software Defined Data Centre.
OSPF routing provides dynamic traffic load balancing between equal routes. An OSPF network is divided into routing areas to optimize traffic flow and limit routing tables.
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) makes core routing decisions. It includes a table of IP networks or prefixes, which designate network reachability among multiple AS’s.
A Virtual Data Centre requires at least one Edge Gateway to enable internal and external routing. There are 4 different size gateways based on your performance requirements.
