Cloud Computing
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud Computing is a technology that uses the internet and remote servers to maintain data and applications. It enables consumers and businesses to access their applications and information from any computer with an internet connection. There are efficiencies to centralising storage, memory and bandwidth which translate to cost savings and the ability to free up and organisation from IT issues to concentrate on their core business.
Cloud Computing can be broken down into 3 core areas - Applications, Platforms and Infrastructure, each element combines to enable computing to move to the clouds! The associated IT cost savings generated can only be realised when these three elements come together. Unlike other technologies it is possible to achieve the benefits in a staged process, for example the co-location of servers may be the the first step on this road.
