Strencom Scoops Accolade at Cork Company of the Year Awards

Strencom, the business IP services provider, today announced that it has been named Cork’s best smaller company of the year for 2006*. The prestigious award, sponsored by BT in association with the Cork Chamber, was awarded to Strencom in recognition of its outstanding business success in 2006 and for its contributions to the economic life of Cork.
The award, in its tenth consecutive year, was presented at the Cork Chamber Annual Dinner in Cork City Hall. Also recognised was the Musgrave Group, who was named the overall Cork Business of the year. Anne O’Leary, Managing Director, BT Business, BT Ireland said, “Though representing different sectors of business, I am delighted to say that these two companies we are honouring have displayed tremendous determination in sourcing new business opportunities, expanding their operations nationally and internationally and creating high value employment.”
Speaking about Strencom, Roger Flack, President of Cork Chamber said, “Strencom, founded by Tim Murphy in 2000, has grown into a rapidly growing dynamic company. Based at their new Data Centre in Blackpool, the team provide a wide range of IP services, such as connectivity, co-location hosting in Cork and security solutions to companies based in Ireland”.
In 2006 the company was listed in the prestigious Deloitte Fast 500 for Europe, Middle East & Africa and again featured in the Deloitte Fast 50, moving from 34th position in 2005 up to 21st place in 2006. Investment in systems, technology, customer service, staff training and recruitment, has paid off with excellent growth in revenue, sales and subscribers. In the fourth quarter of 2006, Strencom was responsible for 25% of all new ADSL broadband connections in Ireland.
Commenting on the award, Strencom’s managing director, Tim Murphy said, “I am delighted to receive this prestigious award on behalf of our team at Strencom.
