Strencom Wins EUR75K IP Telephony and Hosting Deal with Myguideireland.com
- Website  currently receives two million page impressions a month

Strencom, the business IP services provider, today announced a contract to provide a portfolio of IT and telecommunication services to myguideireland.com, the online Irish travel site.  Over a three year contract, Strencom will provide co-location hosting and monitoring of all critical LAN servers, IP Telephony and Web Servers.   The deal, which is estimated to be worth over EUR75,000, will ensure uninterrupted connectivity and access to all mission critical applications across Myguideireland.com’s international operations.

The Myguideireland.com website promotes Ireland as a holiday destination.  With locations in Ireland, the UK and the USA, it provides tailor made Irish holiday packages to tourists around the globe.  The Myguideireland.com website is hosted in Cork and attracts over two million page impressions a month.  The website requires 24x7 uptime as well as an always available back office system.  To ensure this, myguideireland.com needed an experienced and resiliant business IP services provider to host and manage the entire server infrastructure.  Strencom was chosen based on its commitment to meet exacting completion deadlines, service level agreements and proven capability.

Strencom’s first task was to move the hosting of the myguideireland.com site into its data centre in Cork.  Secondly, myguideireland.com moved its entire back office system into Strencom’s custom built data centre.  The back office system is essentially the engine of the business, generating quotes, flight and car rental information as well as processing credit card details.  Myguideireland.com has seen 100% uptime since moving into Strencom.

Finally, Strencom provided hosting for a new IP phone system, which has eliminated delayed call answering and dropped calls.  These problems were caused by a complicated call routing system which supported agents operating in different time zones, coupled with VoIP switches in each location.  Since implementing a centralised single VoIP PBX into Strencom’s co-location facility, all calls from a free phone number go through Ireland.  As agents from around the world log into a central queuing system, calls are seamlessly routed.  The IP phone system uses traditional Primary Rate ISDN lines (PRI) as well as Internet connectivity for call routing and answering, all of which optimises call quality and cuts costs.

Myguideireland.com recently moved offices, and by having all systems hosted externally, this was one less item to manage or worry about as part of the move. Added to that, there was no downtime for the other international sites during the move, which would normally have been the case.

Ger O’Shea, IT Manager for myguideireland.com said, “Given the nature of our business and the total reliance on our website, downtime is not an option.  We needed an IP business provider that could provide the highest quality technical infrastructure, service support, and clearly defined service level agreements.  We’ve been very pleased with the streamlined implementation and service resilience.”

Tim Murphy, managing director, Strencom said, “We are delighted to welcome myguideireland.com into our data centre.  Its decision to host such business critical IT systems with Strencom is a ringing endorsement of our facility, services and people.  By consolidating the support management of all critical systems such as co-location and internet connectivity to a single provider, Myguideireland.com can reduce IT costs and raise productivity by freeing internal resources for core business initiatives . ”
