Strencom Advanced Linux Solutions Appointed as 1st Red Hat Linux Certified Partner in Ireland
Cork, 15 February 2003 – Strencom Advanced Linux Solutions, part of Strencom ISP announced today that they are the first channel partner in Ireland to be appointed as a Red Hat Linux Advanced Server reseller.
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server is a powerful enterprise platform designed specifically for mission-critical server deployments and supported by many industry leading ISVs and IHVs. Strencom will sell and install the Red Hat Linux Advanced Server as well as provide consultancy and support services to enterprise customers.
“As an ISP, we use Red Hat Linux products on our server infrastructure to gain the level of security, reliability and scalability we need. Because it’s open source, we also have the flexibility to adapt the code to suit our requirements,” said Tim Murphy, Sales Director, Strencom - Advanced Linux Solutions. “We’re passing these benefits on both in our own service and also by offering open source software to our customers. Becoming a Red Hat Linux Advanced Server reseller enables us to work more closely with Red Hat and our customers are delighted with the products we can now offer and the massive cost savings that deploying Red Hat Linux on your network can deliver.”
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server products enable large companies to migrate from costly, proprietary UNIX to far more cost-effective Linux running on Intel-based server systems. With Red Hat Linux Advanced Server, companies also benefit from the wide-ranging support of the many leading ISVs and IHVs that are accredited partners of Red Hat, including Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, IBM, Oracle and HP. Red Hat is also working closely with BMC Software, Borland Software Corporation, CheckPoint Software Technologies, Computer Associates, Legato Systems, Novell, Rogue Wave Software, SAP, SoftImage, Synopsis, Tibco Software and VERITAS Software to provide a platform that delivers the full benefits of open source computing to large enterprises.
“Some of the world’s largest financial, eCommerce and manufacturing organisations are using Red Hat Linux to power mission-critical operations,” said David Owens, Director, Red Hat Ireland. “ Red Hat is able to offer direct support to companies throughout Ireland via Red Hat Network and Red Hat Professional Services. As a Certified Partner, Strencom will be part of the delivery mechanism for providing the highest levels of support to users, enabling enterprises to break out of the stranglehold of proprietary operating systems and high-cost hardware.”
